SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College women's soccer team moves to 0-2 in conference play, 1-3 overall after traveling to Martinsville, VA for an evening contest against Patrick Henry Community College.
Richard Bland took the lead in the 22nd minute when Sasha Fields won a scramble in the box and put one past the keeper. Shortly after, the Statesmen fouled in the box and Patrick Henry received a penalty kick. Keeper, Tiffany Hargett kept the Statesmen ahead with a low corner save. In the 30th and 35th minutes, Lana Hatch added two of her own to put the Statesmen ahead 3-0. The score would remain the same through the first 45 minutes. In the 72nd minute, Angie Finnerty put the final tally on the board for the Statesmen off an assist by Anna Lee. Hargett was credited with seven saves in the victory.
The Richard Bland women's soccer team has a quick turnaround and will travel to Cape Fear Community College on Monday, September 12th for a 3pm kickoff.
