Men’s Soccer places 7 On All-Region Team
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Men's Soccer team moves to 12-4 overall after defeating USC Lancaster in the Region 10 Division I Championship this afternoon, while landing 7 spots among the Region 10 All-Region Teams.
Raquan Bryant, Edgar Jose Reboredo Martins and Andrew Retmier earned 1st team honors, with Tyriq Amos and Julian Rivera earning 2nd team, and Michael Afful and Cristian Rodriguez earning 3rd team.
Sophomore, forward Raquan Bryant started 13 of 14 games played for the Statesmen. Bryant tallied 12 goals (3GW) and two assists for 26 points, which lands him at #3 in Region 10 for goals and total points. Bryant was credited with 19 shots, 15 on goal for a .632 SH% and .789 SOG%.
Freshman, defender Edgar Jose Reboredo Martins started all 15 games for the Statesmen. Martins notched five goals and two assists for 12 total points. Martins was credited with 12 shots, four on goal for a .417 SH% and .333 SOG%.
Sophomore, midfielder Andrew Retmier started all 15 games for the Statesmen. Retmier earned five assists for five points on the season. Retmier tallied 18 shots, eight on goal for a .444 SOG%.
Sophomore, defender Tyriq Amos started 11 of 12 games played for the Statesmen. Amos was a key component of the back line, assisting with saves on many different occasions.
Sophomore, midfielder Julian Rivera started all 15 games for the Statesmen. Rivera earned three assists for three total points on the season. Rivera tallied two shots, two on goal.
Sophomore, forward Michael Afful started 14 of 15 games played for the Statesmen. Afful had seven goals and three assists for 17 total points. Afful was credited with 18 shots, 20 on goal for a .389 SH% and 1.111 shots on goal percentage.
Sophomore, goalkeeper Cristian Rodriguez started 13 of 14 games played for the Statesmen. Rodriguez posted three shutout wins, 65 saves, 1.35 goals against average with a .802 save percentage in 1068:51 minutes played. Rodriguez sits at #3 in Region 10 for saves and lowest goals against, and #1 for save percentage and goals against average.
Richard Bland men's soccer will host the Southeast District for an automatic bid to the National Tournament at the Orlando Health Stadium in Melbourne, FL on November 13-19, 2022.
