SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – Over the past three years, the Richard Bland College of William & Mary men’s soccer team has compiled a 43-13-2 (.730) record and established itself as a force in the region. Twenty-one players have earned All-Region X accolades, and the program earned its first-ever First-Team NJCAA Division I All-America last year when defender VanDyke Gyau earned the prestigious award.
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – Richard Bland College of William & Mary Director of Athletics Scott Newton has announced the appointment of Omar Ahmad, Travis Abele, Jessica McCabe, and Tahj Scott to the Athletic Department.
Following a national search, Richard Bland College of William & Mary President Debbie L. Sydow has named Scott Newton Director of Athletics. Newton, who joined the Statesmen in June 2017 as the school's first Women's Volleyball Head Coach, had served as the Interim Director of Athletics since April 2018.
SPARTANBURG, SC – The Richard Bland College of William & Mary softball team made both USC Salkehatchie and USC Sumter sweat out victories on Sunday afternoon as the Statesmen rallied in the 7th inning of both games, falling just short -- 4-3 to Salkehatchie and 7-4 to Sumter in the elimination game -- at the Region X Tournament at North Spartanburg Park.
SPARTANBURG, SC – Not only did Megan Vincent pitch out of two bases-loaded jams in the bottom of the seventh inning, but the sophomore had a key RBI in the top of the 6thinning to help the Richard Bland College of William & Mary softball team upset No. 1 seed Spartanburg Methodist, 3-2, in the second game of the Region X Tournament at North Spartanburg Park Friday afternoon.
Andrew Lacey, who led Varina High School to the VHSL Class 5 State Championship in 2018 and three straight State Championship appearances in 2017, 2018 and 2019, was named men’s basketball coach at Richard Bland College of William of Mary on Monday. The announcement was made by Scott Newton, Acting Athletics Director.
The Richard Bland College of William & Mary softball team spilt its games on Saturday afternoon. The Statesmen fell to Brookdale Community College 2-16 in the first game and won their second game against Paul D. Camp Community College 6-0.
The Richard Bland College of William & Mary softball team split its doubleheader against USC Salkehatchie on Saturday afternoon. The Statesmen fell to Salkehatchie in game one 3-0, but took the win in game two with a score of 8-5.
WHITEVILLE, NC – The Richard Bland College of William & Mary softball team split its doubleheader against Southeastern-Whiteville Community College on Thursday afternoon. The Statesmen came from behind to win the opener 10-7, but fell behind early in falling 11-2 (five innings) in the nightcap.
A campus tour clinched Jezreel Chitty’s decision to attend Richard Bland College of William & Mary. The accomplished softball player was not familiar with the College but quickly knew she found the perfect fit on her first visit.
