Women's Soccer Places 6 on All-Region Team
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Women's Soccer team finished the season in 3rd place with a record of 5-10 overall after falling to USC Lancaster in the Region 10 Division I Semifinal contest this afternoon. Prior to the start of the championship tournament, the women's soccer All-Region teams were announced.
Lana Hatch and Angie Finnerty earned 1st team honors, Tiffany Hargett and Candace Johnson earned 2nd team honors, and Sasha Fields and Kylie Jackson earned 3rd team honors.
Freshman, midfielder Lana Hatch started all 14 games played for the Statesmen. Hatch tallied 13 goals (2GW) and three assists for 29 points, which lands her at #3 in Region 10 for total points. Two of her goals include made penalty kick attempts. Hatch was credited with 32 shots and 44 shots on goal with a .406 SH% and 1.375 SOG%.
Freshman, midfielder Angie Finnerty started in all 14 games played for the Statesmen. Finnerty tallied five goals and one assist for 11 points. Finnerty was credited with 30 shots, 32 shots on goal for a .167 SH% and 1.067 SOG%.
Sophomore, goalkeeper Tiffany Hargett started all 14 games played for the Statesmen. Hargett posted 3 shutout wins, 126 saves, 2.98 goals against average with .754 save percentage in 1239:14 minutes of play. Hargett also earned 1 assist.
Sophomore, defender Candace Johnson started all 14 games for the Statesmen. Johnson earned 2 assists for a total of 2 points. Johnson was credited with three shots from the center back position. She was a key component on the back line, assisting in multiple saves in front of the goal.
Sophomore, forward/defender Sasha Fields started in all 14 games played for the Statesmen. Fields garnered one goal and one assist earning three points. Fields had eight shots and 13 shots on goal for a .125 SH% and a 1.625 SOG%. Fields also assisted with clearing the ball out, on many dangerous occasions in front of the goal.
Freshman, forward Kylie Jackson started all 13 games played for the Statesmen. Jackson tallied three goals (1GW) and two assists earning eight points. Jackson had 38 shots and 27 shots on goal for a .079 SH% and a .711 SOG%.
The Player of the Year and Coach of the Year awards will be announced during the award ceremony after the championship game tomorrow afternoon.
The RBC women's soccer team finishes the season in 3rd place with a 5-10 overall record.
