Espinoza Strikes Four Times in Conference Win Over Denmark

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College men's soccer team hosted Denmark Technical College Thursday afternoon in their first conference meeting of the season. During today's match, Richard Bland rebounded from the beginning of the week, with a huge 9-2 win over the Panthers, moving the Statesmen to 4-2-3 overall and 4-1-3 in conference play.

 

Richard Bland fought hard today, picking up a big conference win at home. Caleb Muluneh put the Statesmen on the board first off a pass from Juan Yepez. Otto Eisenhardt put the Statesmen ahead by two after Alonso Villegas found Eisenhardt in the box for a one-touch shot. Richard Bland's final goal of the first half came from Victor Manuel. The Panthers cut the Statesmen lead to two, as they put one past the Statesmen keeper shortly before conclusion of the first half. Jeffrey Espinoza came out hot in the second half tallying four goals of his own; two assisted by Juan Santana, one assisted by Nate Newberry, and one unassisted. Newberry also assisted a Patrick Dane goal, and Juan Santana tallied one of his own in the 9-2 Statesmen victory.

 

Adrian Rios started the game in net for Richard Bland. He was credited with six saves in 60 minutes of action. Damion Ruffin played the last 30 minutes in the frame and made five saves. In the strong offensive outing, the Statesmen totaled 21 shots on goal.

 

The Richard Bland College men's soccer team next travels to USC Sumter on Saturday, September 28th for a 1pm conference contest. In the first meeting of the season, Richard Bland earned a 1-0 win.
