Baseball Hits the Road for Series with Fayetteville Tech

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College baseball team moves to 4-29 overall, 4-22 in conference play after traveling to Fayetteville Technical Community College this weekend.

 

In game one, Richard Bland's strong offense fell just short to the Trojans in a 7-11 defeat. Fayetteville Tech got things started in the first inning scoring one run on a double. Richard Bland tallied three runs in the ninth inning. Carter Jones and Landon Scott drove in runs in the frame. Ashur Caraher put one out in the fourth inning. Richard Bland collected 10 hits. Nick Guerra and Scott each collected two hits to lead the offense. Andrew Bottari was on the mound for the Statesmen. The righty allowed three hits and three runs over three innings, striking out two. Connor Sakamoto and Alex Chini entered the game as relief, throwing three innings and two innings respectively.

 

In game two, Richard Bland fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 0-5 loss to the Trojans. A single by Jacob Roy in the third inning was a positive for the Statesmen. Roy went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the offense. Codie Maitland started the game for Richard Bland. The righty went two innings, allowing three runs on three hits. Ben Adams and Tucker Webb entered the game as relief, throwing three innings and one inning respectively.

 

In game three, Richard Bland fell 3-5 to the Trojans, despite out-hitting them eight to seven. Richard Bland knotted the game up at two in the top of the third inning, when Carson Herod singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. Jamari Pooler, Ashur Caraher, Landon Scott, Herod, Jacob Roy, Myles Frazier, Dylan Bowen, and Kaleikaumaka Grebin each managed one hit for the Statesmen. Roman Borders took the loss for Richard Bland. The righthander allowed one hit and two runs over one and two-thirds innings, walking one.

 

The Richard Bland College baseball team next hosts Bryant & Stratton College (VA) on Wednesday, April 19th in a conference doubleheader beginning at 2pm. The doubleheader is set to be played at Petersburg Sports Complex.
