Women’s Soccer Battles Cape Fear in Region Championship, Named Region 10 Runner-Up

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College women's soccer team traveled to Cape Fear Community College on Saturday, October 26^th for the Region 10 Championship. The Statesmen entered the tournament as the #3 seed and upset #2 seed Wake Technical Community College in the Semifinals earlier in the week. At the conclusion of the Championship match, the Statesmen closed the season at 5-9-1 overall, and earned the title of Region 10 Division II Women's Soccer Runners-Up for the first time in program history.

The back and forth battle remained level through 84 minutes of play. In the 85^th minute, the Sea Devils found the back of the net and held on for the narrow, 0-1 victory. Despite the Sea Devils outshooting the Statesmen, Richard Bland defended well all game.

Emily Orn played all 90 minutes in the frame and was credited with 11 saves on the day. Jenna Autry, Kimberlee Cobb, and Sara Sparks led the offense with one shot each.
