Women’s Soccer Earns Shutout Victory on Sophomore Day

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College women's soccer team hosted the Flying Eagles of Southwest Virginia Community College Tuesday afternoon. Prior to the match, the team recognized their seven sophomores; Kimberlee Cobb, Teagan Jackson, Silvia Bower-Heeg, Hannah Pfleiger, Anna Lee, Kaleigh Snipes, and Oakley Lamprecht, for their dedication to the program in their time in the green and white. At the conclusion of the match, the Statesmen moved to 4-7-1 overall, 1-3-1 in conference play.

Shani Priestly got the Statesmen rolling in the 34th minute after receiving a ball from Jenna Autry and taking on multiple defenders 1v1 for a hard shot inside of the box. Six minutes late, Priestly assisted Grace Pope to put Richard Bland ahead 2-0. In the 43rd minute, Pope tallied her second of the day after Anna Lee found her on a long ball, with Pope then carrying the ball down the left side of the field and cutting central for a shot in the box. Richard Bland led 3-0 through 39 additional minutes, but in the 82nd minute, Pope tallied her third goal on the day for a hat trick in the game, assisted by Teagan Jackson.

Emily Orn played all 90 minutes in the frame and was credited with five saves on the day. The Statesmen offense tallied 17 shots, seven on goal in the game.
