McClure Scores Fifth Double-Double in Women’s Basketball Action

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Women's Basketball team traveled to Catawba Valley Community College Monday evening, in a make-up game for their second meeting of the season. After completion of the conference contest, the Statesmen moved to 5-14 overall, 5-11 in conference play.

Monday evening, the Red Hawks came out strong outscoring the Statesmen by 10 points, 10-20 in the opening quarter. Richard Bland added 14 points in the second, to trail 24-39 at the break. Richard Bland added 10 more points in the third, and 15 in the fourth, which proved not enough as they fell 49-74 in the game.

DaNiya McClure led the way with her fifth double-double of the season scoring 19 points and bringing down 13 rebounds. Ma'Liyah Hodges tallied 14 points, five rebounds, three assists, and one steal. While Khamaya Earley grabbed 12 boards, and scored seven points. Mya Mewborn chipped in with five points, Jaylah Mercer two, and Ava Meanor two. Keimare Gray brought down seven rebounds in the loss.

Richard Bland shot 23.2% from the field, 16.7% from the perimeter, and 57.1% from the charity stripe.

The Richard Bland College Women's Basketball team next hosts Louisburg College on Saturday, February 15^th for their second meeting of the season. Tip-off is set for 1pm.
