Four Statesmen Record Double Figures in Conference Win Over Titans
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Women's Basketball team traveled to Guilford Technical Community College Friday evening for their second meeting of the season. After completion of the conference contest, the Statesmen moved to 4-10 overall, 4-7 in conference play.
Friday evening, the Statesmen stepped into battle with the Titans, right out of the gate. Richard Bland took a four-point lead after the first quarter, and added 17 points in the second to hold a 29-20 lead at the break. The Statesmen added 14 points in the third and 20 in the final quarter, to hold on for the 63-59 victory.
Four Statesmen scored double figures in the conference win, led by Ma'Liyah Hodges with 14 points, two rebounds, two steals, and one assist. Aryauna Brent added 13 points, one rebound, and one assist. Khamaya Earley tallied her sixth double-double of the season with 12 points, 12 boards, one assist, one steal, and one block. Off the bench, DaNiya McClure chipped in with 11 points, three rebounds, one assist, and one steal, while Ni'Ana Hill had eight points, seven assists, six rebounds, and three steals. Ava Meanor tallied four rebounds in the win.
Richard Bland shot 30.0% from the field, 14.3% from the perimeter, and 60.0% from the charity stripe.
The Richard Bland College Women's Basketball team next hosts Fayetteville Technical Community College on Friday, January 24th at 5pm.
