Women's Basketball All-Region Team Announced
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary inaugural women's basketball team finished the regular season with a record of 23-2 overall, 16-2 in conference play. After their loss to Catawba Valley in the final game of the regular season, the women's basketball team was named the #2 seed heading into the Region 10/Atlantic District Tournament this weekend.
Friday afternoon, the Region 10 Division II All-Region teams were announced. Head Coach, Olivia Gaines has been named Coach of the Year, Auzhane Allard has been named Player of the Year and is a 1st Team selection, and Jasmine Norman earns 1st Team honors.
In her first season with the inaugural program, Coach Gaines has led the team to an almost perfect record. Along with an impressive first year performance, the Statesmen have been ranked in the top 20 in the nation for the last 10 weeks, while receiving votes in weeks for three weeks prior.
Sophomore point guard/forward Auzhane Allard has played in all 24 games. She averages 20/7 points per game, 11.3 rebounds per game, 64.3 fg%, 44.4 3pt%, and 66.9 ft%. She has tallied 14 double-doubles on the season. Allard has 497 total points, 272 total rebounds, 115 assists, 50 steals, and 22 blocks.
Sophomore shotting guard/small forward Jasmine Norman has played in all 24 games. She averages 19.7 points per game, 4.3 rebounds per game, 40.8 fg%, 37.0 3pt%, and 76.9 ft%. Norman has 473 total points, 102 total rebounds, 109 assists, 69 steals, and 33 blocks.
