SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The #16 Richard Bland College Women's Basketball team moves to 23-1 overall, 16-1 in conference play after traveling to Southwest Virginia Community College Saturday afternoon, and Patrick & Henry Community College Sunday afternoon.
On Saturday, Richard Bland took an early, 13-7 lead through the first quarter, and carried a 34-21 lead into the break. The Statesmen came out of the break hot, outscoring SWCC 29-15 in the third. The Statesmen would match SWCC in the fourth with 24 points, allowing Richard Bland to earn a 87-60 conference win on the road.
Five Statesmen scored double-digit figures in the win led by Auzhane Allard scoring her 15th double-double of the season with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Allard also added six assists, four steals, and one block. Jasmine Norman notched 17 points, nine rebounds, three assists, three blocks, and two steals. Janiah Jones chipped in with 14 points, two rebounds and one assist. Courtney Scott and Lauryn Bell matched at 10 points each. Scott also added eight rebounds, three blocks, one assist, and one steal.
Richard Bland went 86.7% from the charity stripe, 42.9% from the field, and 44.4% from the perimeter.
On Sunday, the Statesmen and Patriots were all tied up through the first period. Richard Bland came out hot in the second quarter outscoring the Patriots 21-7, taking a 35-21 lead at the half. Richard Bland outscored Patrick Henry by three in the third and five in the fourth to earn the road win over the Patriots.
Four Statesmen scored double-digit figures in the win led by Jasmine Norman with 19 points, seven rebounds, five steals, four assists, and two blocks. Off the bench, Lauryn Bell earned her first double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Bell also added five assists and four steals. Courtney Scott tallied her sixth double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Scott also added five assists and one steal. Auzhane Allard chipped in with 12 points, seven rebounds, six assists, two steals, and one block.
Richard Bland went 53.3% from the charity stripe, 38.3% from the field, and 19.2% from the perimeter.
The Richard Bland College women's basketball team next travels to Catawba Valley Community College on Friday, March 3rd for a 3pm contest.
