Women’s Basketball Tops Trojans
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Women's Basketball team moves to 12-0 overall, 6-0 in conference play after traveling to Fayetteville Technical Community College Tuesday evening.
In the first meeting of the season, the Statesmen defeated the Trojans 95-47. Richard Bland continued on their undefeated streak with a 92-60 win yesterday evening. The Statesmen opened the first quarter outscoring the Trojans by 12, 27-15. In the second quarter, Richard Bland added 19 points, FTCC 12, to hold a 46-27 lead at the half. The Statesmen added 23 in the third and fourth to earn the 92-60 non conference win.
Three Statesmen scored double-digit figures in the win. Jasmine Norman led the way with 29 points, five assists, two rebounds and two steals. Auzhane Allard had 25 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals. Courtney Scott chipped in for her third double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Scott also added five steals, four assists and two blocks. Amira Roy and Janiah Jones matched with eight points each, followed by Mercedes Gaither with seven.
Richard Bland went 50.0% from the charity stripe, 46.8% from the field, and 36.7% at the perimeter.
The Richard Bland College women's basketball team next travels to Wake Technical Community College this evening for the second meeting of the season with the Eagles. Tip-off is set for 5pm.
