Women’s Basketball Comes Out On Top In Conference Battle

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Women's Basketball team moves to 10-0 overall, 6-0 in conference play after hosting Guilford Technical Community College Thursday evening.

 

The Statesmen opened the first quarter outscoring the Titans by 5. The Titans carried a narrow, 37-36 lead into the half. The Statesmen added 14 in the third quarter and came out strong in the fourth adding 28, to defeat the Titans 78-69 at the final buzzer.

 

Three Statesmen scored double-digit figures in the win. Jasmine Norman led the way with 26 points, four assists, two rebounds, one steal and one block. Auzhane Allard scored her fifth double-double of the season with 24 points and 11 boards. Allard also tallied four assists, two steals and one block. Courtney Scott added 12 points for the Statesmen. Scott also chipped in with nine rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal. Lauryn Bell added seven points and four boards, while Janiah Jones had four points, Natayvia Lipscomb three, and Mercedes Gaither two in the win.

 

Richard Bland went 50.0% from the charity stripe, 40.8% from the field, and 47.1% at the perimeter.

 

The Richard Bland College women's basketball team next hosts Wake Technical Community College on Saturday, December 17th at 1pm.
