Women’s Basketball Remains Undefeated After Road Win

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Women's Basketball team moves to 4-0 overall, 1-0 in conference play after traveling to Virginia State University for a contest with the jv squad. The women's basketball team has also picked up a forfeit win over USC Salkehatchie on the December 10th date, to sit at 5-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

 

The Statesmen opened the first quarter outscoring the Trojans 27-5, playing their best defensive quarter of the game, and would not look back. Richard Bland held a 54-17 lead at the half, and would come out victorious, 116-51 at the final buzzer.

 

Four Statesmen scored double-digit figures in the win. Auzhane Allard led the way for the Statesmen with her first double-double of the season; 23 points and 11 rebounds. Allard also chipped in with three assists, two steals, and one block. Kennedee Matthews added 23 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and one steal. Jasmine Norman had 20 points, four rebounds, eight assists, eight steals and two blocks, while Janiah Jones added 17 points, seven steals, and three rebounds in the win.

 

The Richard Bland College women's basketball team next hosts Brunswick Community College on Sunday, November 20th. Tip-off is set for 3pm.
