Four Statesmen Hit Double Figures In Home Opener

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Women's Basketball team moves to 2-0 overall, 1-0 in conference play after hosting Patrick and Henry Community College Saturday evening.

 

The Patriots opened the first quarter outscoring the Statesmen, 18-17 but the Statesmen would hold a 27-23 at the half. Richard Bland scored 29 in the third and in the fourth, to take down Patrick and Henry 102-82, in the home and conference opener of the inaugural season.

 

Four Statesmen scored double-digit figures in the win. Janiah Jones led for Richard Bland in her first double-double outing of the season with 28 points and 11 rebounds. Jones also had three steals. Jasmine Norman chipped in with 23 points, six assists, four rebounds, and three steals. Courtney Scott added her first double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Scott also had eight assists and five steals in the win. Lauryn Bell pitched in with 14 points and five rebounds for the Statesmen.

 

The Richard Bland College women's basketball team next travels to Thomas Nelson Community College on Saturday, November 12th. Tip-off is set for 1pm.
