Women’s Basketball Opens Inaugural Season With Big Win
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Women's Basketball team moves to 1-0 overall after traveling to Mountain Gateway Community College Tuesday evening for a non conference contest with the Roadrunners.
The Statesmen opened the first quarter outscoring the Roadrunners 25-3 and would lead 32-11 at the half. Richard Bland would score 17 in the third, and 25 in the fourth, to take down Mountain Gateway 99-32 in the opening game of the inaugural season.
Six Statesmen had double-digit points in the victory. Jasmine Norman led the scoring with 25 points and chipped in with eight assists, four steals, and two blocks. Courtney Scott and Janiah Jones added 14 points each, while Mercedes Gaither led the boards with eight rebounds and 12 points. Auzhane Allard and Kennedee Matthews added 13 and 10 points for the green and white.
The Richard Bland College women's basketball team next hosts Patrick and Henry Community College on Saturday, November 5th at 7pm following the men's basketball Statesmen Classic.
