Green Named Second Team All-Region 10

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – Thursday afternoon, the Region 10 Division II Softball committee announced the All-Region 10 awards for the 2024-25 season. Sophomore utility, Taylor Green was the lone Statesman named to the Region 10 Division II All-Region Team.

 

The Suffolk, Virginia native, earned All-Region 10 2nd Team honors as a utility player for the Statesmen. Green has started 10 of 15 games played on the mound, throwing 67.1 innings, with a 5-4 record. She allowed 77 hits, and 60 runs, while striking out 82 and walking 30. In the outfield, Green has accumulated 28 putouts and eight assists for a .857 fielding percentage. At the plate, she has totaled 27 hits in 99 at bats, for a .273 batting average, to include three doubles, two triples, while earning 16 runs batted in. Green also has two stolen bases on the season.

 

Throughout the regular season, Taylor also surpassed the 100 career strikeout mark. Her best pitching outing came on February 1st against Surry Community College where she garnered 10 strikeouts, followed by March 4th against CCBC Catonsville with eight, and March 19th against Pitt Community College with seven.

 

Taylor has been a key piece for the Statesmen, helping the team to a 23-21 overall (including playoffs), 14-10 conference record, and the #2 East seed in the Region 10 Tournament.
