Softball Drops Two to Eagles in Non-Conference Doubleheader

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Softball team traveled to Wake Technical Community College Wednesday afternoon for a non-conference doubleheader. After completion of the games, the Statesmen moved to 22-20 overall, and 14-10 in conference play after dropping two to the Eagles Wednesday afternoon, 3-11 and 1-5.

In game one, Wake Tech scored nine runs in the fifth inning, which helped them defeat the Statesmen 3-11. Wake Tech were the first to get on the board in the fourth inning when a double scored two runs. Richard Bland took the lead in the top of the fifth inning after McKynzi Dawson singled to center field, Grace Urban doubled to center field, and Arianna Manson doubled to center field, each scoring one run. Wake Tech flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fifth scoring nine runs on eight hits. Taylor Green took the loss for Richard Bland. The righty went four innings, surrendering four runs on six hits, striking out seven and walking four.

In game two, Richard Bland lost to Wake Tech Community College, 1-5. A triple by the Eagles put Wake Tech on the board in the bottom of the first. A home run to right field, score three more runs in the bottom of the fifth for the Eagles. Jaylin Daggins led Richard Bland with one hit in two at bats. Taylor Full stole two bases. Grace Urban took the loss for Richard Bland. The hurler went four and two-thirds innings, giving up five runs on four hits, striking out six and walking five.
