SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Softball team moves to 3-11 in conference play, 5-11 overall after hosting Louisburg College in a conference doubleheader yesterday afternoon.
In game 1, Richard Bland fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 15-0 loss to Louisburg College. The Hurricanes took the lead on a triple in the first inning. Erin Miles was on the rubber for Richard Bland. Miles allowed seven hits and eight runs over two innings, striking out one. Maggie Linthicum threw three and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen. Miles went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Richard Bland in hits.
In game 2, Louisburg got on the board early to take a 3-0 lead heading to the bottom of the first. The Hurricanes would add four additional runs in the second inning, four in the fourth, and one in the fifth to secure the win. Casey Hart led things off in the pitcher's circle for Richard Bland. The lefty went three and a third innings, allowing 11 runs on five hits and striking out one. Maggie Linthicum threw one and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen.
Richard Bland softball next travels to Paul D. Camp Community College on Friday, April 1st for a conference doubleheader beginning at 12pm.
