Hart, Linthicum Team Up In Sweep Over Onondaga

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Softball team moves to 3-9 in conference play, 5-9 overall after hosting Onondaga Community College in a non-conference doubleheader this afternoon.

In game 1, Richard Bland knocked in eight runs in the third on its way to a 13-3 victory. Richard Bland put the pressure on, led by singles by Gracie Fisher, Jahaira Medrano, Lily Curtis, and Tabitha Fisher, an error on a ball put in play by Emma Fleming and Casey Hart, and by Emmalee Lawson. Hart took the win for Richard Bland. The southpaw went five innings, allowing three runs on five hits, striking out four and walking zero. Richard Bland smacked one home run on the day. Alyssa Martinez put one out in the fourth inning. Tabitha Fisher led Richard Bland with two hits in two at bats.

In game 2, Richard Bland stole the lead late and defeated Onondaga 8-7 in the night cap. Richard Bland captured the lead in the second inning. The game was tied at six with Richard Bland batting in the bottom of the sixth when Casey Hart singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.  Maggie Linthicum got the win for Richard Bland. Linthicum surrendered five runs on seven hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking one. Hart and Emma Fleming entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Hart recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for Richard Bland. The Statesmen totaled nine hits. Hart, Alyssa Martinez, and Fleming each racked up multiple hits for Richard Bland.

Richard Bland softball next hosts Louisburg College on Friday, March 25^th. The first pitch of the doubleheader is set for 4pm.
