Men’s Soccer Season Comes to a Close in Region Semifinals

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College men's soccer team traveled to Lancaster, South Carolina for the Region 10 Semifinals Friday afternoon. The #3 Statesmen faced off against #2 USC Lancaster after taking down #6 USC Salkehatchie earlier in the week in the Quarterfinals. After completion of the match, Richard Bland's season came to an end, finishing 8-5-5 overall, and 7-2-3 in conference.

 

Richard Bland and USC Lancaster battled through 28 scoreless minutes Friday afternoon, but in the 29th minute, the Lancers struck to take a 1-0 lead. Ten minutes later, USC Lancaster increased their lead to two. In the 41st minute, the Lancers found the back of the net one more time, to hold a 0-3 lead at the half. The second half remained scoreless, although Richard Bland was able to get 10 shots off, eight on goal, testing the Lancer keeper. As a result, USC Lancaster came out victorious, 0-3, in the Region 10 Semifinals and advanced on to the Region 10 Championship.

 

Thomas Seymour started the game in net for the Statesmen. He was credited with eight saves on the day. The Statesmen offense was credited with 10 shots, eight on frame.
