Men’s Soccer Earns 2-2 Draw on Sophomore Day

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College men's soccer team hosted the Fighting Owls of Harford Community College Tuesday afternoon. Richard Bland earned a 2-2 tie, moving the Statesmen to 7-4-5 overall and 7-2-3 in conference play. Prior to the match, the Statesmen recognized their 10 sophomores for their dedication to the program while at RBC. Thomas Seymour, Nate Newberry, Juan Santana, Jeffrey Espinoza, Colin Ward, Lucas Delich, Otto Eisenhardt, Diego Zogbi, Connor Nickerson, and Daniel Nunfio were all recognized.

 

Richard Bland took the lead in the 34th minute when Colin Ward intercepted a Fight Owl pass and quickly found Sebastian Rodriguez, who broke through defenders for an easy 1v1 play versus the keeper. The Fighting Owls fought back quickly, adding one of their own just four minutes later. They would add one additional goal in the 43rd minute to take a 1-2 lead over the Statesmen heading into halftime. Diego Zogbi tied the game in the 81s minute assisted by Juan Santana, but Richard Bland was unable to strike again, earning a 2-2 non-conference tie.

 

Thomas Seymour started the game in net for the Statesmen. He was credited with five saves on the day. The Richard Bland offense totaled 12 shots on the day, four on goal.

 

The Richard Bland College men's soccer team next awaits their final regular season rank ahead of the Region 10 Championship Tournament. The quarterfinal round will take place midweek, with the semifinal and championship to take place in Lancaster, South Carolina on Friday, October 25th and Saturday, October 26th
