Statesmen Stunned by Mustangs in Men’s Basketball Action

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Men's Basketball team traveled to Region 15 opponent, Monroe University Saturday afternoon for a non-conference contest. After completion of the game, the Statesmen moved to 1-5 overall after falling to the Mustangs, 52-81

The Mustangs held a nine-point, 34-43 lead at the half. Monroe came out strong in the second half and outscored the Statesmen by 20 points to hold on for the 52-81 non-conference win in New Rochelle, New York.

Christian Chambers led the way for Richard Bland with 18 points, six rebounds, and one assist. Doyle Brown added 15 points, three assists, and three steal for the Statesmen. Off the bench, Andy Ramirez and Jalen Smith had eight and seven points, and combined for 10 rebounds, four steals, and two assists. Dove Fishburne chipped in with four points, two assists, and one rebound in the loss.

Richard Bland shot 29.7% from the field, 34.5% from the perimeter, and 66.7% from the charity stripe.

The Richard Bland College Men's Basketball team next hosts Wake Technical Community College on Tuesday, December 3^rd in a 7pm contest.
