Three Statesmen Score Double-Doubles in Non-Conference Action Against Hurricanes
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Men's Basketball team traveled to Camp Community College (NJCAA DIII) for a non-conference contest Wednesday evening. After completion of the game, the Statesmen moved to 0-3 overall after falling 84-87, to the Hurricanes on the road.
Camp CC outscored the Statesmen 15-27 in the opening half, however, Richard Bland came out strong in the second half scoring 47 points and only allowing 35, tying the game, 62-62 at the end of regulation. Both teams battled through the first overtime period, ending with the same result, tied at 72. In the second overtime period, the Hurricanes outscored the Statesmen 12-15, and held on for the narrow, three-point victory.
Jalen Smith led the way for Richard Bland scoring his first double-double of the season, with 22 points and 17 rebounds. Doyle Brown followed closely behind with 21 points, two assists, and one rebound on the evening. Off the bench, Emannuel Vonhm scored his first double-double of the season, chipping in with 16 points, 15 rebounds, and three assists. Jack Ticic also scored his first double-double of the season, with 15 points and 14 points. Andy Ramirez tallied nine rebounds and six points, while Dove Fishburne had four points and three assists.
Richard Bland shot 38.8% from the field, 38.5% from the perimeter, and 58.7% from the charity stripe.
The Richard Bland College Men's Basketball team next hosts their home opener on Monday, November 18th at 6pm. The Statesmen are set to take on Washington Adventist JV squad.
