Saunders Commits to Apprentice School

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – Kelby Saunders Jr., a member of the Richard Bland College men's basketball team, has committed to continue his academic and athletic career at USCAA Apprentice School.

The Smithfield, Virginia native has contributed to much success for the well-known Statesmen basketball program. In his rookie campaign, Saunders Jr. started 26 of 28 games played, accumulating 793 minutes of action. Saunders Jr. posted 218 points, going 83-196 from the field and 52-78 at the charity stripe. He tallied 179 rebounds, 36 steals, 27 assists, and six blocks.

In his second year, he started 28 of 30 games played for a total of 720 minutes played. Saunders Jr. posted 104 points, going 39-131 from the field and 26-44 at the charity stripe. He was credited with149 rebounds, 34 steals, 24 assists, and eight blocks.

The Apprentice School is located in Newport News, Virginia and is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association, and competes in the Eastern Metro Athletic Conference (EMAC).
