Statesmen Downed by Rhinos

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA - The Richard Bland College men's basketball team moves to 11-16 overall, 3-7 in conference play after hosting The Rhinos of Gaston College Wednesday evening.

After a tight first half battle, Gaston held a one point, 32-31 lead at the break. The Rhinos outscored the Statesmen 36-33 in the second half and Richard Bland would come up just short, falling 64-68 at the final buzzer.

Martin Kawa led the Statesmen with 20 points and two rebounds. Kevon West followed closely behind with 18 points, eight assists, and six rebounds. Larry Howell chipped in with nine points, five rebounds, two steals, and one assist. Off the bench, Eric Wood had eight points and nine rebounds.

Richard Bland went 68.8% from the charity stripe, 36.4% from the field, and 38.5% at the perimeter.

The Richard Bland College men's basketball team seeks revenge as they travel to Gaston College next, on Saturday, February 25^th. The matchup will be played at Ashbrook High School and will tip-off at 3pm.
