Baseball Grabs Win Over Bobcats

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Baseball team hosted Bryant & Stratton College (VA) on Wednesday, April 23rd for a single, nine-inning conference game. After completion of the game, the Statesmen moved to 22-21 overall, 13-17 in conference play after defeating the Bobcats, 10-5. In the win, the Statesmen have continued to surpass a program record of most wins in a season, now at 22, and will look to continue adding onto the record the remainder of the season.

 

In the game, Richard Bland was triumphant over the Bobcats, 5-10 Wednesday afternoon. Richard Bland got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Myles Holmes singled to center field, Jordan Ramsey doubled down the left field line, and Carson Seely singled down the left field line, each scoring one run. The Bobcats hit a solo home run in the top of the third to narrow in on the Statesmen lead. Three more Statesmen runs crossed the plate in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 6-2. Seth Truesdale hit a solo home run to left, Macho Santiago singled, scoring one run, and Holmes was struck by a pitch, driving in a run. Luke Sweeney earned the win for Richard Bland. The pitcher allowed seven hits and two runs over four innings, striking out two and walking none. Charlie Hogan and David Smith each appeared in relief for Richard Bland.

 

The Richard Bland College Baseball team next travels to Brunswick Community College on Saturday, April 26th and Sunday, April 27th for their second, three-game series of the season. Games one and two will take place in a 12pm doubleheader Saturday, with game three Sunday at 12pm.
