Shaffer Commits To Florida National University
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – Ben Shaffer, a member of the Richard Bland College 2nd year baseball team, has committed to continue his academic and athletic career at NAIA Florida National University, beginning fall 2023.
The Jacksonville, FL native has contributed to much success for the second year program. In his rookie campaign, Shaffer started five of 26 games at first base. He had 68 plate appearances for a .118 batting average. He was credited with eight hits including two doubles. He scored twice himself, walked four times, touched 10 total bags, and had five rbi. In the field, he had 70 putouts and 14 assists for a .955 fielding percentage.
In year two, Shaffer made eight appearances with 10 at bats. He had one hit for a .100 batting average. In the field, he had 12 total catches, 10 putouts, and one assist for a .917 fielding percentage.
Florida National University is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and Continental Athletic Conference.
