Jones Goes Yard in Baseball Defeat to Marymount University JV

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College baseball team moves to 5-19 overall, 2-15 in conference play after traveling to Arlington, Virginia for a single, non conference contest with the Marymount University JV squad Tuesday afternoon.

The Richard Bland bats were strong against Marymount University JV, but it wasn't enough as the Statesmen fell 6-17. The Statesmen got things moving in the second inning, when Richard Bland scored one run on a stolen base. Marymoung pulled away for good with eight runs in the fourth inning. Richard Bland smacked one home run on the day. Carter Jones went for the long ball in the eighth inning. The Statesmen totaled nine hits in the game. Matt Stevenson, Myles Fraizer, and Ashur Caraher each collected two hits to lead the offense. Andrew Bottari took the loss for Richard Bland. The righthander lasted three innings, allowing two hits and four runs while striking out one and walking zero.

The Richard Bland College baseball team next hosts Pitt Community College in an adjusted schedule this weekend. Game one will take place Friday, March 31st and games two and three will take place Sunday, April 2nd. Friday's game will begin at 12pm and Sunday's doubleheader will begin at 12pm.
