Rams Take Series From Statesmen

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College baseball team moves to 1-10 overall, 1-7 in conference play after traveling to Southeastern Community College-Whiteville Friday and Saturday afternoon.

 

In game one, Richard Bland fell to the Rams 3-11. The Statesmen got on the board in the first inning when Carson Herod drove in two on a single. In the bottom of second inning, Southeastern tied things up at two when an error scored one run. Southeastern pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning and four runs in the sixth inning. Jacob Roy went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Richard Bland in hits. Matthew Boyd took the loss for the Statesmen. The righthander lasted five and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and six runs while striking out five.

 

In game two, Richard Bland watched the game slip away early and could not recover in a 1-6 loss to Southeastern. The Rams scored on an error in the first inning, a triple and two doubles in the second inning. Matt Stevenson led Richard Bland with one hit in two at bats. Reece Hamilton took the loss for Richard Bland. Hamilton allowed five hits and five runs over one and one-third innings, walking zero.

 

In game three, Richard Bland fell to Southeastern 7-8 on the final play of the game. Southeastern was down 7-6 in the bottom of the ninth inning when the Rams homered on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs. In the second inning, Richard Bland got the offense started when Myles Frazier's sac fly scored one run. Richard Bland fell behind by four runs in the sixth inning, but tried to fight back. Richard Bland scored five runs in the failed comeback. Jamari Pooler, Myles Frazier, Maddaux Childress, and Matt Stevenson came through with rbis to lead the rally. Richard Bland put up three runs in the eighth inning. Richard Bland scattered 10 hits in the game. Carter Jones, Michael Caliz, and Childress all managed multiple hits. Codie Maitland started the game for the Statesmen. The righthander lasted three and a third innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out one and walking zero. Landon Hoge took the loss for the Statesmen. The righty lasted two-thirds of an inning, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out one and walking zero.

 

The Richard Bland College baseball team next hosts Fayetteville Technical Community College at Shepherd Stadium on Saturday, February 4th and Sunday, February 5th. The doubleheader will begin at 1pm on Saturday. Game three will begin at 12pm on Sunday.
