SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College baseball team moves to 1-7 overall, 1-4 in conference play after hosting Eastern Mennonite University JV squad Wednesday afternoon in a non conference match-up.
EMU JV bested Richard Bland in a high-scoring affair, 11-8 this afternoon. The Blue Lions got things moving in the first inning, drawing a walk which scored one run. After EMU JV scored three runs in the top of the fifth, Richard Bland answered with three of their own when Jacob Roy's sac fly scored one run, Myles Frazier was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and Carson Herod singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Despite the loss, Richard Bland collected nine hits on the day. Carter Jones and Herod each collected two hits to lead the Statesmen at the plate. Richard Bland socked one home run on the day. Frazier went deep in the second inning.
Connor Floyd took the loss for Richard Bland. The pitcher allowed one hit and two runs walking one.
The Richard Bland College baseball team next travels to Southeastern Community College-Whiteville on Saturday, February 25th and Sunday, February 26th for the three game conference series. Day one will begin with a 12pm doubleheader. First pitch on day two is set for 12pm.
