Maitland Makes Program History Throwing First Complete Game In Win Over Trojans
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Baseball team moves to 7-18 in conference, 7-20 overall after a weekday matchup with Fayetteville Technical Community College, Wednesday afternoon.
Codie Maitland led things off on the mound for Richard Bland making history throwing the program's first ever complete game. The pitcher went nine innings, allowing one run on six hits and striking out five.
Richard Bland got things moving in the first inning. Rixon Webb drove in one on a single to left. Richard Bland tallied three runs in the fourth inning. William Bean, Nick Guerra, and Wade Clements all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Bean had a busy day at the plate, smacking four hits in the 7-1 victory. Bean singled in the first, doubled in the third, doubled in the fourth, and singled in the sixth. The Statesmen totaled 12 hits in the game. Bean, Nate Sherman, and Guerra each racked up multiple hits for Richard Bland.
Richard Bland baseball next travels to Bryant & Stratton (VA) on Friday, April 15th. The first pitch is set for 1pm.
