Baseball Falls Short Against Lancers

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Baseball team moves to 6-18 in conference, 8-20 overall after the weekend series with Lenoir Community College.

 

In game 1, Richard Bland struggled to get their offense going in a 9-0 loss. Davis Snyder was on the hill for Richard Bland. Snyder lasted three innings, allowing four hits and five runs while striking out one. Brandon Arrowood threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen.

 

In game 2, Richard Bland lost the lead late in a 6-1 defeat. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Richard Bland tied things up at one when Ben Shaffer lined out, driving in a run. Zachary Streib led Richard Bland with two hits in four at bats and Nick Guerra earned one RBI. Gavin Riley started the game for Richard Bland. The hurler surrendered one run on four hits over five innings, striking out three. Connor Woodel, Codie Maitland, and Gavin Burton each contributed in relief for Richard Bland.

 

In game 3, Richard Bland fell 11-7 despite out-hitting them 15 to eight. Richard Bland opened up the scoring in the first inning, when Nick Guerra doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Richard Bland put up three runs in the third inning. Zachary Streib and Rixon Webb all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Spencer Fillhart led things off on the hill for Richard Bland. The hurler allowed four hits and five runs over three innings, striking out one. Landon Hoge, Austin Dansey, Donavion Gray, and Roman Borders each entered the game as relief, throwing two innings, one inning, one inning, and one inning respectively. Guerra, Nate Sherman, Jayvon Brown, Dylan Barber, and Streib all had multiple hits for the Statesmen. Guerra led with three hits in five at bats.

 

Richard Bland baseball next hosts travels to Fayetteville Technical Community College on Wednesday, April 13th. The single game will begin at 4pm.
