Baseball Drops Series To Bulldogs

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Baseball team moves to 6-14 in conference, 8-16 overall after traveling to Pitt Community College this past weekend.

 

In game 1, Richard Bland fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 8-0 loss. A single by Rixon Webb in the first inning was a positive for Richard Bland. Dylan Barber led things off on the pitcher's mound for the Statesmen. The hurler allowed five hits and five runs over three innings, striking out two. Codie Maitland and Carson Pardue entered the game as relief, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one and one-third innings respectively. Webb went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Richard Bland offensively.

 

In game 2, Richard Bland watched the game slip away early and couldn't recoved in an 11-1 loss. Brandon Arrowood took the loss for Richard Bland. The bulldog surrendered five runs on three hits over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one and walking one. Evan Hornsby and Owen Hopkins each collected one hit to lead Richard Bland.

 

In game 3, Richard Bland stayed in it until the end, but Pitt Community College pulled away late in an 11-3 victory. The game was tied at three, with the Bulldogs batting in the bottom of the seventh when an error scored two runs. Gavin Burton took the loss for Richard Bland. The pitcher went one inning, allowing two runs on one hit, striking out two and walking one. Davis Snyder started the game for Richard Bland. The lefty surrendered two runs on five hits over five innings, striking out three.

 

Richard Bland baseball next hosts Fayetteville Technical Community College in a single game on Wednesday, April 6th at 6pm.
