SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Baseball team moves to 5-9 in conference, 7-11 overall after traveling to Paul D. Camp Community College this weekend.
In game 1, Richard Bland lost the lead late in a 6-4 defeat to Camp Community College. Richard Bland got things moving in the second inning, when Evan Hornsby singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. In the top of the fifth inning, Richard Bland tied things up at three. Nick Guerra grounded out into a double play, scoring one run. Richard Bland tallied 12 hits on the day. Dylan Barber, Nate Sherman, Jayvon Brown, and Rixon Webb all had multiple hits for the Statesmen. Barber led with three hits in four at bats. Gavin Riley started the game on the mound and went two and a third innings, allowing two runs on one hit. Spencer Fillhart took the loss for Richard Bland. Fillhart lasted two-thirds of an inning, allowing three hits and three runs while walking one.
In game 2, Richard Bland fell behind early and could not come back in a 9-0 loss. Richard Bland struggled to contain the high-powered offense, giving up nine runs. Rixon Webb went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Richard Bland in hits. Brandon Arrowood was on the mound for the Statesmen. Arrowood allowed seven hits and six runs over four innings, striking out three. Landon Hoge and Codie Maitland entered the game as relief, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one-third of an inning respectively.
In game 3, Richard Bland ran off with the lead late in the game in a 5-1 victory. The game was tied at one with Richard Bland batting in the top of the sixth when Nick Guerra doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs. Guerra led with two hits in three at bats, earning three rbi. Dylan Barber went 1-for-3 at the plate and earned two rbi. Davis Snyder was on the mound for Richard Bland. The ace allowed four hits and one run over six innings, striking out five.
