SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Baseball team moves to 4-7 in conference, 6-8 overall after the weekend conference series against Brunswick Community College.
Game 1 of the series was cancelled due to weather.
In game 2, Richard Bland watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in an 11-1 loss on Saturday. Richard Bland struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Brunswick, giving up 11 runs. Gavin Riley was on the hill for Richard Bland. Riley allowed seven hits and six runs over three and a third innings, striking out four. Gavin Burton threw two innings in relief. William Bean led the Statesmen offensively with two hits in two at bats.
In game 3, two pitchers combined to throw a shutout in the 5-0 defeat over Brunswick Community College. Brandon Arrowood toed the rubber for Richard Bland allowing three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out five. Spencer Fillhart finished the game on the mound pitching two innings, allowing two hits, while striking out two. Rixon Webb went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Richard Bland in hits.
