Beach Volleyball Falls to Manatees, Drops to Consolation Bracket of National Tournament

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Beach Volleyball team traveled to John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Alabama for day two of pool play along with the opening round of the Championship Bracket, today, at the NJCAA Beach Volleyball National Championship. After completion of the day, Richard Bland has moved to 13-12 overall and look towards tomorrow's Consolation Bracket, to compete for 5th place.

 

In the final pool play dual, the Statesmen fell to Palm Beach State, 0-5.

Pair 1: Phoebe Heath & Lovina Teal fell to the Panthers 14-21 and 19-21.

Pair 2: Alexis Scipione & Gabrielle Meador fell to the Panthers 21-23 and 15-21.

Pair 3: Peyton Ostenson & Taelin Connolley fell to the Panthers 12-21 and 16-21.

Pair 4: Braelyn Boyd & Rachelle Martin fell to the Panthers 7-21 and 7-21.

Pair 5: Rachel Pickens & Aliyah Millner fell to the Panthers 4-21 and 19-21.

 

In the opening round of the Championship Bracket, Richard Bland fell to the State College of Florida, 2-3.

Pair 1: Phoebe Heath & Lovina Teal fell to the Manatees 13-21 and 9-21.

Pair 2: Alexis Scipione & Gabrielle Meador defeated the Manatees 21-7 and 21-16.

Pair 3: Peyton Ostenson & Taelin Connolley defeated the Manatees 21-19 and 21-11.

Pair 4: Braelyn Boyd & Rachelle Martin fell to the Manatees 21-12 and 21-18.

Pair 5: Rachel Pickens & Aliyah Millner fell to the Manatees 15-21 and 14-21.

 

The #6 Richard Bland College beach volleyball team next takes on #7 Trinidad State in the Consolation Bracket at 8am CST/9am EST tomorrow, May 3rd. With a win, the Statesmen will move on to compete for 5th place at 10:30am CST/11:30am EST against the winner of #5 Sandhills Community College and #8 Wake Technical Community College. If the Statesmen lose to Trinidad State, they will compete for 7th place against the loser of Sandhills Community College and Wake Technical Community College.
