Beach Volleyball Splits Day One of Pool Play at National Championship
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Beach Volleyball team traveled to John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Alabama for day one of pool play, today, at the NJCAA Beach Volleyball National Championship. After completion of the day, Richard Bland has moved to 13-10 overall and look towards tomorrow's final pool play dual, followed by the beginning of the Championship Bracket later in the day.
In the first dual of the day, the Statesmen fell to Mesa 2-3.
Pair 1: Phoebe Heath & Lovina Teal defeated the Thunderbirds 21-14 and 21-13.
Pair 2: Alexis Scipione & Gabrielle Meador fell to the Thunderbirds 21-23 and 17-21.
Pair 3: Peyton Ostenson & Taelin Connolley defeated the Thunderbirds 21-18 and 21-18.
Pair 4: Braelyn Boyd & Rachelle Martin fell to the Thunderbirds 17-21 and 9-21.
Pair 5: Rachel Pickens & Aliyah Millner fell to the Thunderbirds 12-21 and 8-21.
In the second dual of the day, the Statesmen defeated Trinidad State, 3-2.
Pair 1: Phoebe Heath & Lovina Teal defeated the Trojans 21-14 and 21-16.
Pair 2: Alexis Scipione & Gabrielle Meador defeated the Trojans 21-18, 15-21, and 15-7.
Pair 3: Peyton Ostenson & Taelin Connolley defeated the Trojans 21-12 and 21-11.
Pair 4: Braelyn Boyd & Rachelle Martin fell to the Trojans 22-24, 21-19, and 14-16.
Pair 5: Rachel Pickens & Aliyah Millner fell to the Trojans 10-21 and 17-21.
The Richard Bland College beach volleyball team next closes out pool play tomorrow, May 2nd against Palm Beach State at 9:30am CT/10:30am EST. Once complete, the final seedings for the Championship bracket will be developed, and the team will play again at 12:30pm CT/1:30pm EST OR 2pm CT/3pm EST.
