Beach Volleyball Drops Two on Opening Day

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College beach volleyball team opened the season at Catawba College Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader against the NCAA Division II Indians. Richard Bland fell 1-4 in both dual matches, moving to 0-2 overall on the 2025 season.

 

In dual one of the day, the Statesmen dropped the match to the Indians, 1-4.

Pair 1: Phoebe Heath & Lovina Teel fell to the Indians 15-21 and 11-21.

Pair 2: Alexis Scipione & Gabrielle Meader fell to the Indians 10-21 and 9-21.

Pair 3: Peyton Ostenson & Taelin Connolley fell to the Indians 15-21 and 12-21.

Pair 4: Braelyn Boyd & Rachel Pickens fell to the Indians 3-21 and 11-21.

Pair 5: Rachelle Martin & Aliyah Millner defeated the Indians 16-21, 21-19, and 15-11.

 

In dual two of the day, the Statesmen dropped the match to the Indians, 1-4.

Pair 1: Alexis Scipione & Gabrielle Meader fell to the Indians 8-21 and 11-21.

Pair 2: Phoebe Heath & Lovina Teel fell to the Indians 11-21 and 22-24.

Pair 3: Peyton Ostenson & Taelin Connolley defeated the Indians 21-13 and 21-13.

Pair 4: Braelyn Boyd & Rachel Pickens fell to the Indians 11-21 and 13-21.

Pair 5: Rachelle Martin & Aliyah Millner fell to the Indians 11-21 and 16-21.

 

The Richard Bland College beach volleyball team next travels to Liberty University for a two-day tournament, on Friday, February 28th and Saturday, March 1st. The Statesmen will face Southern Virginia University at 10am and Carson Newman University at 12pm on Friday, and Lancaster Bible College at 2pm and Liberty University at 6pm on Saturday.
